In a poignant moment of grace, Aimee Lynn Johnson peacefully transformed from this world on February 15th, 2024. Throughout the past 66 days, she faced the challenges presented by Acute Myeloid Leukemia with unwavering strength and resilience. Aimee did not succumb to the illness: instead, she chose to embrace peace, mirroring the fearlessness and courage that defined her entire remarkable life.
Aimee Lynn Johnson, born on June 7th, 1977, in Lynchburg, Virginia embarked on a life that touched the hearts of many. From the outset, her journey was marked by resilience and a steadfast commitment to service and education.
Shortly after her birth, Aimee moved to her family's cherished hometown of Waterford, New York before settling in Gahanna, Ohio where she received her education at Lincoln High School. Following her high school graduation, Aimee embarked on a remarkable chapter by enlisting in the military, a decision that would shape her into the extraordinary individual we remember today.
Aimee's dedication to her military service led her to various stations, including Fort Bragg,now known as Fort Liberty in North Carolina, Tripler Medical Center in Oahu, Hawaii and Fort Gordon in Georgia . Her unwavering commitment to excellence culminated in her retirement from the military in 2005, but Aimee's passion for healing endured as she continued to serve as a surgical tech at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
Even as she navigated the responsibilities of work and parenthood, Aimee pursued higher education with unyielding determination. In 2014, she earned her bachelor's degree in Human Services from Wayward Baptist University, a testament to her relentless pursuit of knowledge. Aimee's educational journey reached new height in 2022 when she proudly obtained her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University, propelling her into a fulfilling role as Assistant Principal at Kinder Ranch Elementary in San Antonio. Working in education was Aimee's true calling, she inspired and loved her students, fellow teachers and co-workers.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Aimee was a beacon of inspiration and kindness all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the values of unconditional love, selflessness and boundless generosity. Aimee had a unique gift to uplift others, encouraging them to persevere in the pursuit of their dreams even in the face of adversity. Aimee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going on spontaneous trips with her husband, making her grandson laugh, watching football and finding pumpkin flavored snacks and drinks. She was truly special and one of a kind.
Aimee's love extended to her roles as a devoted mother, daughter, wife and Mimi. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on her family, including her loving husband Jerry Johnson, her children Christian Rivera and Jordan Stanton, her son-in-law Elijah Stanton, stepchildren Alani and Ja'nia Johnson, parents Diane and Ken McKeon, Kevin Andrus and her adored grandson West Stanton.
Aimee Lynn Johnson led a life rich in love, adventures and laughter. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she left an indelible mark on every soul fortunate enough to cross her path. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, let us remember Aimee for the light she brought into our lives and the legacy of love she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation for Aimee will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM, at Sunset North Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Aimee will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 10:15 AM, Shelter #3.
