William "Bill" Perry Carter, 87, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on November 26, 2017 . He was born in Potosi, Missouri on March 15, 1930 to Mr. George Carter and Mrs. Ollie Morgan Carter. On June 30, 1950 he married the love his life Johnnie " Julie" Pope . He started his military career in 1948 with the United States Air force, where he retired after twenty years of active duty. He then continued his working career with Civil Service as HVAC Technician at Goodfellow Air force Base retiring in 1992. Bill had a passion for NASCAR, especially Bill Elliott in which he idolized. He also enjoyed going fishing with his brothers-in-law and working in his yard. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Gail Goetz and Kerry Goetz of Wall, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings. He also leaves to cherish his memories a special niece and her husband, Susan and Sonny Henry of Potosi, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. A special word of appreciation is extended to the staff of Lyndale at San Angelo where he was affectionately known as "Sgt. Carter", as well as his numerous friends who made his quality of life enjoyable. Graveside service for Mr. Carter will be held on November 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Open visitation will be held from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Johnson's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to Meals for the Elderly, Hospice of San Angelo, West Texas Rehab, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
