Russell Monroe Oates, 58, of San Angelo, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He was born in Pecos, Texas to Tana K. Breiten and Charley W. Oates.
Russell grew up in Balmorhea, Texas helping out on his family’s farm. He went to Balmorhea High School and graduated with the class of 1984. After graduation, he moved to Pecos and worked at Bob’s Thriftway for many years. Russell loved the sense of community in West Texas and enjoyed greeting his customers...many of which were his lifelong friends! He later moved to San Angelo where he met and married Tina K. McDaniel on December 26, 2015.
Russell loved to be around his friends and family dancing and listening to country music. His smile and laugh were contagious, full of joy and happiness. One of Russell’s biggest passions was football, most importantly the Dallas Cowboys. He could tell you every fact about the Cowboys, he was their number one fan!
Russell will be dearly missed and always remembered. A Celebration of Life for Russell will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church.
