Martha Catherine Hedman-Wright, 82, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born to Beauford Foster Yates and Catherine Yates Harkins in Dallas, Texas on September 9, 1940. Martha graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1958 and went on to earn her Master’s Degree at East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M Commerce.
Martha was a teacher and educator who specialized in special needs children and children with learning disabilities. Her life revolved around these children, and teaching them was her passion. Martha loved the children as her own and truly had a gift for working with them.
Martha also enjoyed volunteering at her church, visiting with friends, cooking, reading and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Troy Wright and her parents, Beauford Yates and Catherine Harkins.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Martin A. Hedman and wife Anamaria; her step daughter, Jamie W. Wilder and husband Randy, and her grandchildren, Justin A. Hedman, Brittany P. Foreman, Bethany Wilder and Robert E. Parks III.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Fairmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
