Lawrence James Semik, age 72, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 26, 1951, to Frank and Bernice Semik, Larry, affectionately known to many as "Mick," graduated from Redford Union High School in 1969 after attending St. Agatha School.
After high school, Larry proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated 20 years of service, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E7) in 1989. During his distinguished military career, he served two tours at Kunsan Air Base in Korea. His service was not just a job but a calling, and he remained a devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1815 in San Angelo. His unwavering loyalty to his country and to his fellow service members will always be remembered.
In 1975, Larry married Laurabeth Messimer, and together they had two daughters. Later in life, he was blessed to find love again with his wife, Kalaka Semik.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernice Semik; his grandparents, Jim and Laura Pegg; and his brother-in-law, Claude.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kalaka Semik; his daughters, Cassandra Lopez and Carmen Semik; his step-son, Thanet Intirach; and his cherished grandchildren, Raelyn, Yevamena, and Valhalla. He is also survived by his siblings: Tom (Deborah) Semik, Karen Spoor, Laurie (William) Sheffer, Mike (Henrietta) Semik, Frank (Julie) Semik, and Chris (Mary) Semik, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Memorial Service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo.
