Kay Ray attended Central High School and graduated in the graduating class of 1965. He later went on to obtain a Bachelors in Business Administration from Angelo State College ’69 and Bachelors of Science in Emergency Management from The University of North Texas ‘93. While he did achieve gainful employment, K.R. should be remembered more as a definite fun seeker; never hesitating to take the time to enjoy the simple and amusing pleasures offered in life. His contributions as an entertainer will undoubtedly outshine the work done in a cubicle.
K.R. married Jan Wilkerson on April 13, 1979 and inherited 2 children alongside his 2 previous children. K.R. had a passion for Bubbles, Saturday morning cartoons, the funny papers, carpentry, gardening, target shooting, baseball, hilariously outrageous jokes, elaborate and fantastic storytelling, pizza and movie nights, mentoring his grandchildren, the outdoors and always providing enjoyable company with copious laughter.
K.R. will always be remembered for his youthful, carefree and comical attitude. He will be remembered for his tender yet resolute guidance, insightful wisdom and terrific wit. He will be remembered for his friendly and welcoming demeanor. And most of all, his ability to not only comfort but strengthen those around him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred and his father Marlin Weaver.
K.R. is survived by his children Jon Roman and Julie Zamarippa, Chris and Carrie Weaver. Also by his grandchildren Jayden Fitzpatrick and Jack and Jon Riley Zamarippa.
