Juan Carrillo Roman, 88, of San Angelo, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, October 6, 2017. He was born to the late, Manuel and Ignacia Carrillo Roman on Thursday, August 29, 1929 in Roscoe, Texas. He married Sobeida Valenzuela Cortez on July 29, 1950 in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico. Juan was a rancher as well as having worked in the construction business for most of his life. He believed in working hard, taking care of his family and being faithful to God. These beliefs and his immense character, ethics, and integrity were an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a true gentleman that honored his mother and wife. It has been said that he was the one that kept his whole family grounded. He was also very playful and had a wonderful sense of humor. Juan was a member of the Prayer Group at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Juan’s laughter, sense of family, strong faith and blessings to those he loved will forever be remembered. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Maria del Rosario Carrillo; and siblings, Roberto, Rafaela, Lorenza, Anzelma, Irene, and Jesus Manuel.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sobeida Carrillo; children and their spouses, Carlos and Beatrice Carrillo, Graciela and Armando Arreola, Malena and Manuel Ortiz, Juan Jose and Rosa G. Carrillo, Ana Maria and Juan Cazares, Joe Cruz and Hilda Carrillo, Frank and Rosa V. Carrillo, Jesus Carrillo and fiancée, Rosalie Hernandez, Sr. Ignacia Carrillo,FMA, and Eliazar and Veronica Carrillo; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Catalina, Josefa, Ata Gracia, Elva, and Nicanor; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 in the Johnson’s Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fa. Emilio Sosa serving as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Juan, Joe, Frank, Jesse and Eliazar Carrillo, and Manuel Ortiz will serve as pallbearers. Carlos Carrillo will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family would like to extend special thanks to Shannon Medical Center ICU and 4 North staff and nurses as well as Dr. Hitchcock for her wisdom and guidance and St. Gabriel’s Hospice and Palliative Care and especially Rene Rendon, Amber Farmer, Darla Teague, Christina Lafayette, Jennifer Almendarez, Karri Geiling, Amy Rogers, Tommy King, and Michael Hettick, who were the care team for Mr. Carrillo and the family during this time.
