John began his career in ironworks, working for B&W Foundry where he retired as a foreman. John and his first wife, Rosa Ponce, had four children from their marriage. He later married the love of his life, Dolorez (Perez) Ramirez, in 1971, and together they a had a blended family of eight children.
John was a committed member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, volunteering with community service, and most of all, spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and wittiness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, his son, Edward Cervantez, Jr.; his daughter, Roseann Ramirez; his son, John Eric Ramirez, and his granddaughter, Amber Molina.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dolorez; his son, John Eddie Ramirez, his son, Gonzalo George Ramirez, his daughter, Norma McGinley, his daughter, Edwina Cervantez, and his son, Jonathan Ramirez, Sr. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A rosary for John will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will occur Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers include John Eddie Ramirez, Gonzalo George Ramirez, Jonathan Ramirez, Sr., John David Ramirez, Jacob Ramirez, Tyler George Ramirez, and Jonathan Ramirez, Jr.
The family would like to thank Lee Pfluger and family, The Ramadoss Family as well as Dr. Anderton and his staff.
