Joe Ann Morgan was born on July 20, 1938 in Austin Texas, the first of three children and passed in Shannon Hospital on December 1, 2022 at the ripe old age of 48. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; Joe (Weenie) and Sterlene Morgan and her brother Bud Morgan. She is survived by her sister; Grace Elizabeth (Betty) Murphy, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews many of whom are with us here today and of course, her favorite Niece Macy the Cat who was unable to attend.
Joe Ann grew up in Snyder, Texas where survived Polio at a young age and went on to dance and teach ballet. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1956 and then went off to seek her fortune at West Texas State, an all-girls school in Canyon,
Texas. She quickly learned that the world was a lot larger than this small town girl with big dreams ever imagined.
After leaving Canyon, she came home to Snyder where she took a job at Bennet's Office Supply Store where she developed a
life-long fondness for all variety of greeting cards. She later moved to San Angelo where she lived most of the rest of her years, interrupted only by a short stint near Dallas. She had a full career at GTE, the phone company, from which she retired some years ago. Not wanting to be bored at home, she went to work at Good Will mostly to fund her various vacations, cruises and wanderings with her sister, family and friends
Joe Ann loved life, she loved laughing, she loved people, peach wine and champagne. She also really loved Christmas, sending cards, shopping, wrapping and watching others open their gifts. In fact, her nephew, Mike, commented that we won't know when to open gifts this year as it was Joe Ann who always informed us when the time was just right.
Joe Ann will be greatly missed. Her smile, her laugh, her yearn for life and fun. Indeed, the world will shine a little less brightly now that her light is gone.
