He was born on July 18, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Janette Bloom and Kenneth Mitchell. Howard attended Penn High School and graduated in the class of 1964. He began working in the telecommunications industry in 1967. Throughout the years, he worked for GTE, Verizon, and ended his career as the Vice President of Special Services for Housley Communications. Howard married Judith Sorgenfrei on June 25, 1966 and together they had two children. In his free time, Howard enjoyed working with Ham radios, hunting, and ministering to others. Howard was an Elder at San Angelo Cowboy Church and a proud member of the NRA. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Janette and Kenneth Mitchell; and his sister, Colleen Brugh.
Left to cherish Howard’s memory are his loving wife, Judith Mitchell; children, Daniel Mitchell and Angela Mitchell; grandchildren, Danielle Mitchell, Amber Runyun, Taylor Runyun, Shannon Bulovas, and Sky Bulovas. Howard also leaves behind nieces, Lori Simmons and Tammy Cardenas, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Visitation for Howard will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the San Angelo Cowboy Church.
