Francisca Delgado Arias was born in Aracena, Spain on September 17, 1937 to Vicente Delgado Gonzalez and Ascensión Arias Dominguez. Francisca attended Escuela Normal de Magisterio de Sevilla, where she earned a degree in education. She met and married Lloyd Schwertner while he was stationed in Spain. They subsequently moved to the U.S., where Francisca worked at Ethicon for 27 years. The first time she set foot in a bowling alley she met Lester Smith, with whom she would enjoy 25 years of marriage. A lifelong disciple of Christ, Francisca expressed His love through her service to others, eagerly supporting those around her, however great or small their need. She also shared beauty through her passion of crafting, giving her creations to friends and family.
Francisca was preceded in death by her husband Lester Smith and son David Schwertner. She is survived by her daughter Rose Green, her husband Kyle, and their daughter Chelsea; daughter Helen Hulse, her husband David, and their children Jaxon and Haylee; granddaughter Mindy Drummond, her husband Brent, and their daughter Finley. Francisca is also survived by her sisters Ascension Smith and Vicenta Smith.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Johnson’s Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
