Claudine was born to M. Y. and Louise Butler on Nov. 23, 1938 in Snyder, TX. She was raised in Big Spring, TX and attended Big Spring High School and Howard College. She married Billy P. Flynn on Oct. 3, 1957 and they shared 54 years together.
Claudine spent her career in the legal profession. She began working in Big Spring with the Howard County Attorney then worked for attorney Harvey Hoosier. When she and Bill moved to Midland, Claudine worked for Emil Rassmun of the Rassmun, Gunter & Boldrick Law Firm in Midland, TX. When she and Bill moved to Odessa, Claudine began working for W. O. Shafer of the Shafer Law Firm. She would be his legal assistant for 25 years. After retiring from the Law Firm Claudine became the personal assistant to Margaret Shafer and Anita Hilger. She was a valued professional to all those who worked with her.She is survived by her husband Bill of San Angelo, son Dr. Buddy Flynn, his wife Lori and grandsons John and Robert of San Angelo, daughter Roberta King and husband Roger of Ft. Worth and brother Sidney Butler and wife Sandra of Hobbs, NM.Claudine was a quiet, intelligent lady with a generous heart. She had a special love for childrens’ homes and took great joy in helping young people obtain their education. Her steady faith provided strength during a year battling cancer.
Special thanks go to countless doctors, nurses, aides and therapists who cared for Claudine at Shannon Hospital, St. Johns Skilled Nursing Facility and at home. She has a special connection with Amy Watkins, Keith Goodman and Kathy Martinez from Shannon Home Health. Comfort Keepers caregivers Lisa, Sandy, Tracy, Barbara, Bennie and Carrie lovingly tended her every need while at home.A memorial book is available at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Service will be at Southgate Church of Christ, Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the San Angelo Area Foundation, Flynn Scholarship Fund or the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, NM.
