Bryan was born on April 12, 1924 in Lone Oak, Texas to John Allen Ross and Romona Irene (Duniven) Ross. He married Alice Louise Cook in San Angelo on August 25, 1948.
He served in World War II with the 104th Infantry Division, 387th Field Artillery Battalion in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Bryan was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as pastor of Prairie View Baptist Church (near Anson) 1948, West Fork Baptist Church (near Azle) 1949-52, Enterprise Baptist Church (near Whitewright) 1950-52, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church (near Post) 1952-53, Westview Baptist Church, Slaton, 1953-58, Lake View Baptist Church, San Angelo, 1958-68, served as Director of Missions for the Big Spring- San Angelo Baptist Area 1968-89, served as pastor of Tennyson Baptist Church, Tennyson, 1991-2002 and taught Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in San Angelo.
He served as president of the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment and president of District Sixteen of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, served as moderator of the Lubbock Baptist Association and of the Concho Valley Baptist Association, served as president of the Slaton Ministerial Alliance and of the San Angelo Ministerial Association. Served in various other associational and district positions, serving as vice president and president of the Texas Director of Missions Fellowship. His wife, Alice served by his side through all of these ministries. He preached in evangelistic crusades and / or conferences in Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong and three crusades in Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, John Wilson Ross, Evelyn Marie Kirk, Wynona Lee Troup and Mary Dell Ross.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice and children, Richard Allen and wife, LaJuana, John Randall and wife, Linda, Glen Norman and Charlotte Elaine; grandson, Clayton Allen Ross and siblings, Rutha Nan Van Dusen and Winston Byrd Ross.
Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating.
