

Billie Ray Dusek age 79, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born November 22, 1938 in Mereta,Texas to Sam and Frances Ripple Dusek. He attended school in Eola then moved with his family to Wall, Texas. He graduated from Wall High School in 1958. While in high school Billie Ray played football and was active in the FFA program. He was so proud when he won the Champion Barrow in 1958. After graduation he continued farming. He joined the Army National Guard and served for six years. He was called to active duty to Fort Polk, LA during the Cuban Crisis. He often talked about the Honest John Rocket that they were assigned to.
He obtained the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and was honorably discharged in 1965.
He married Lillian Dieringer on October 7, 1967. Together they raised three children. Bill was an excellent Dad who always put his children first.
He changed careers in 1977 when B J Hughes offered him a position with their company.
He loved hunting, fishing and most of all watching his children and grandchildren show their stock show animals. He helped for many years with the San Angelo Stock Show and even helped cook at the Fort Worth Stock Show.
He also loved his back yard and helped resuscitate the children's plants on many occasions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Frances; brothers, Marvin and Roy, and sister, Lillie Dusek.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lillian; sons, Douglas and wife Denise of Wall, Darrell and wife Shannon of Corpus Christi, and daughter Brenda Halfmann and husband Troy of Miles, Texas.
PoPo will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Jake and Melanie of Wall, Amanda, Kendall, and Taylor of Corpus Christi and Tucker, Sterling, and Cooper Halfmann of Miles.
Pallbearers will be Jake Dusek, Richard Havlak, Harvey Havlak, Wayne Dusek, Brandon Dieringer and Derek Dieringer. Honorary pallbearers include Melanie Dusek, Amanda Dusek, Kendall Dusek, Taylor Dusek, Tucker Halfmann, Sterling Halfmann, and Cooper Halfmann.
Rosary will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 7:00 PM at St. Ambrose Church in Wall. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Ambrose Church in Wall. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity
