Norm is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Susan Olsen and his children, Pamela Susan Call, Candace Ann Frioux, Michael Norman Olsen, and Mark Christian Olsen, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Norm was born on May 30, 1933 in Brigham City, Utah to John and Lois Olsen, who immigrated to the United States in 1905 from Denmark. He was raised in Brigham City with three siblings, Grant, Doris and Robert.
Norm enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College in 1951 and spent his summers in Alaska working hard and saving money. In 1953, Norm was called to serve as an LDS missionary in the Eastern States Mission. After his return, he re-enrolled at Utah State and was elected student body president his junior year. During this time Norm worked closely in lobbying the state legislature to change the name of the school from Utah State Agricultural College to Utah State University.
Norm married his college sweetheart Nancy Susan Squires on March 21, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She equaled his passion for life, kindness, honor and family. In 1957 Norm joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, serving in the 101st Airborne. In 1958, Norm and Nancy were transferred to Fort Ord, California. Norm was honorably discharged in September 1959, followed by many years of service in the Army reserves.
Norm's service in various callings with the LDS church was a source of great joy. In 1977, he was called to serve as the mission president of the newly established St. Louis, Missouri Mission. He also served as bishop of a young adult ward. Norm's passion for mentoring the youth defined who he was and how he desired to better the world through serving others.
Norm was well known for his work as a real estate developer, having built many of the nicest homes in Utah.
Norm had a great passion for life and was completely dedicated to seizing the day. From traveling the world with his family to heli-skiing in British Columbia or golfing with his grandchildren, Norm lived a life worth living.
