He was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on July 8, 1931, to Louis B Freeman Sr. and Kathryn Freeman. He was raised in Madison, New Jersey, with one sibling. After graduating High School, Lou served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he started his education at Bethany College in West VA. He finished his Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Utah. He started his career as a pharmacist until he retired in the 90s.
In his younger years, Lou was an avid rock hound (if you ever visited his house, there are rocks everywhere) and would love to take the family on camping and four-wheeling trips in his beloved K5 blazer. On many of these trips, he would always seem to find that one narrow, bumpy dirt road with a cliff on one side and no room to pass on the other. This would leave the family members white-knuckled and panicking; however, he always maintained control of the vehicle and was never hurt. There may be some PTSD, but all survived. Lou also loved shooting, one of his favorite places to shoot was in Skull Valley, Utah. He also loved golf, and on any given Sunday, you would find him watching PGA. He was also a member of many bowling teams in his younger years.
Lou also enjoyed visiting the house in Love Ladies on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. There are a lot of fond memories of the beach, playing in the lagoon behind the house, and crabbing off the dock.
Anyone that knew Lou knew he had a sense of humor and quick wit. He was always quick to come back with some witty, smart remark or his offbeat Pun.
Lou was widowed in 1972, but on April 8, 1979, he married the love of his life and soul mate, Shirley. From there, they built a beautiful life together. You will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
Lou is survived by his loving wife Shirley Freeman, Sandy, His daughter Lori Bodily (Lynn), his son Theodore (Ted) Freeman, Stepsons Calvin (Penny) Zettler and Chris Zettler, 7 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday December 17th at 2:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S Highland Dr. SLC UT 84106
