1924 – 2010
Lois Berniece Ivie High, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City, March 16, 2010. Berniece was born April 15, 1924 in Center Creek, Wasatch County, Utah to David and Myrtle May Sexton Ivie.
Berniece attended Wasatch High School where she received an athletic scholarship to the University of Utah upon graduation.
Berniece married Oliver Carl High December 25, 1945 in Center Creek, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt lake Temple in February 1964. The two were happily married for 59 years.
Berniece was a warm, loving, Kind hearted woman whose caring nature never faltered. She always welcomed people into her home with open arms and a cold coke. She had many wonderful stories to tell and was always willing to listen and give her insight. Berniece was very talented from her excellent cooking and display to her intricate and astonishing crochet work.
Berniece was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church capacities on both the ward and stake level.
Berniece is survived by her children: Linda (Robert) Allen, Lloyd (Marlene), Ross, and Darrell High, and step daughter Kemba High Sanford. Siblings: Carol (Jim) Rice, Wayne (Shirley) Ivie, 16 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Oliver Carl High (1912-2005) and grandson Clint David High (1981-2003).
A viewing will be held March 19, 2010 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive Salt Lake City, Utah from 6 – 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the Stratford LDS Chapel 2605 South 1500 East Salt Lake City Saturday March 20, 2010 at 12 P.M with viewing time from 10:45 – 11:45 A.M.
Our family would like to give thanks to Ross High for the 3 years of reliable caretaking and the love he gave to Berniece. We would also like to give thanks to Applegate Hospice for all of their help and care in this difficult time.
