Albert E. Knight

Albert Elwin Knight, age 90, passed away January 16, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Heber City, Utah. Born February 24, 1921, in New Plymouth, ID, the only son of Julius Henry and Vivian Anna Snyder Knight, he graduated from Idaho State University in 1942 with a degree in pharmacy. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an aviation cadet in June 1943, serving as a pilot of eleven different aircraft in the Pacific during WW II and survived a kamikaze attack on his ship, the USS Curtiss. He was always very proud of his Navy service.

Al married MarJorie Parkinson July 4, 1943, in New Plymouth, ID. He always noted that fireworks went off in their honor every year. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, ID, LDS Temple. She passed away August 10, 2002. He worked 30 years for the Upjohn Company as a medical service representative; 10 years as manager of the Portland, OR, sales area which included Oregon, Washington, W. Idaho, W. Montana and Alaska. The years he and MarJorie spent as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake City, UT, LDS Temple were very special to him.

Preceded in death by his wife, MarJorie, and sister, Dorothy Knight Strohbein. Survivors include four children: Shauna (Steven) Jones, Gresham, OR; Stephen (Mary Sue) Knight, Phoenix, AZ; Christie (Brent) Evans, Heber City, UT; Scott (Deborah) Knight, South Jordan, UT; sister Beverly (Gene) Tuttle, Boise, ID; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

“My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions…He hath filled me with his love” (2 Nephi 4:20-21).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2012, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT, where friends may call Friday from 12:30-1:45 pm. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
