Phil graduated from WiHi’s Class of 1963. He retired from the E.I. DuPont Company after 30 years. He served for about 15 years as a part-time deputy sheriff for Wicomico County and as a volunteer with Salisbury Fire Department. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of Nanticoke Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife, Susan McBriety Johnson; two sons, Mark Johnson (Andrea) and Kirk Johnson (Becky); and five grandchildren, Trevor (Kerigan), Devon, Kade, Rece, and Alexandra. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phil was predeceased by his brothers, James L. Johnson and Ronald Frank Johnson.
Phil enjoyed boating, hunting, driving his 1963 Chevy Nova and spending time with his family and friends. He had a quiet easy-going nature and was a loving, devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. Among his greatest pleasures was supporting his sons and grandchildren in their athletic games and other activities.
A private family graveside service will be held at Parsons Cemetery at a later date.
