D. Allan Richardson, 79, of Pittsville passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 5, 1944 he was the son of the late Lester I. and Edith Richardson. After graduating in 1963 from Wicomico Senior High School, Allan worked for Dresser Wayne Industries for 9 years and more recently the Wicomico County Board of Education for 29 ½ years. He was a lifelong farmer growing grain and vegetables and a member of the Wicomico County Farm Bureau. He was a 54-year member of the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Company, a lifelong member of Ayres United Methodist Church, and longtime member of Pittsville Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, and restoring antique tractors.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie Richardson; two children, Randy Richardson (Bettie) and Kim Richardson (Jennifer); grandson, Matthew Layfield; two granddaughters, Breanna and Taylor Carrigan; two great-granddaughters, Jayden and Isabella; great-grandson, Sean; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepmother, Mae Richardson; brother, Lester F. Richardson and wife Mary Lou and stepsister, Barbara Evans.
The family would like to thank Donna Gray and staff at Belmont Family Practice and Coastal Hospice for all of the care and kindness shown to them.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2pm at Pittsville Volunteer Fire Company where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Rev. Shane Moran and Rev. Ernest Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow at Pittsville Cemetery.
