Betty is survived by her son, Bill, his wife, Clara and their daughter, Elyse; her daughter, Stephanie, her husband, Craig, and their daughter, Carsyn, and son, Tyler, and several nieces and nephews. She was also close to Kara and Jason Press and their son, Benjamin, all of whom she also considered as family.
The second oldest of the four children of Wilson and Margaret L. Jones, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert W. Jones and Thomas R. Jones, and her sister, Sandra J. Rossbach.
A graduate of Wicomico High School in 1961, Betty worked as a phlebotomist at then-Peninsula General Hospital. She was a member of Rockawalkin Church in Hebron, Md., and a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls of Maryland. After several years as a wife and homemaker, Betty worked as a secretary and office manager until her retirement. During her professional career Betty completed Dale Carnegie coursework in office and personnel management.
In her retirement, Betty enjoyed time with close friends and traveled across the country seeing the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Mount Rushmore National Monument and Crazy Horse Monument in South Dakota.
In July of 2023, Betty moved to University Park, Md. to live with Bill and Clara. She enjoyed time watching the birds in her backyard, visiting her daughter-in-law's horse, working in the yard with flowers, and Face Timing with her granddaughter, Carsyn. She enjoyed her word-search books, novels, television Westerns and watching Bill and Clara’s dog, Teddy, and his silliness. On the day before her 82nd birthday, she enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, talking with them and taking photos.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Bounds Funeral Home on E. Main Street from 2:00-4:00.
Betty loved flowers and enjoyed gardening, so flowers are welcome. Those who wish to donate in memory of her may do so by donating to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
