Robert "Bob" David Rothermel

He was born in Yakima, Washington on February 6, 1934 to Alexander and Amelia Rothermel. The family moved to Oregon, where Bob graduated from Jefferson High School. He married Janice "Jan" Morgan and they spent 64 years together, before Jan passed away in 2016.

Bob served dutifully in the United States Air Force 1952-1956; his final year serving was in Korea during the Korean War as a Sergeant. After coming home from the war, Bob obtained a job working for the Oregon State Police (OSP). He retired from the OSP in 1987 as a Major.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jan; his daughters, Susie Smith and Cindy Pech; and his brother, Richard Rothermel. Bob is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Rothermel) Needham; his brother, Vern Rothermel; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

A funeral service for Bob will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St John Lutheran Church, 1350 Court St NE, Salem, Oregon. Following the funeral service will be a committal service starting promptly at 1:30 PM at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon, which will be joinable through Live Stream -- please arrive by 1:00 PM. Military honors will be presented by the United States Air Force.

A catered reception will be held after both services on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Lincoln Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
