Pauline Ann (Elsberry) Hoppman

It was a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, when Pauline, age 82, left to be with the Lord. Polly, better known to close family and friends, was a beautiful strong compassionate woman raised from the golden fields of Surrey, North Dakota. In her younger years, Polly grew up in a place and time we all yearn for. A child of loving parents and a house full of 6 brothers and sisters. Life on the farm was hard but love for the Lord and music graced the family.

Polly carried these values with her thru life in good times and bad. Music was always a world she could go to in times of celebration, reflection, and somber. She was never far from a Piano and a Hymnal.

As it can be typical growing up in a small town, Polly met the love of her life as a young child, but it wasn’t until her high school years that schoolhouse crushes turned into passion for a handsome rebel farmer with a boyish smile. Polly Ann Elsberry and Richie Hoppman were married on October 28th, 1958 and have been side by side for 64 years.

The 2 lovebirds later moved west and grew their own roots in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

Polly worked hard and raised 3 children along with acres of gardens and prize-winning roses. She did all this while still spreading the love of the Lord and her love of music.

Polly also had an adventurous side as evidence of cross-country trips on the back of a motorcycle and countless Snowbird ventures to the heat of Arizona in an RV. Along with that, Polly was best known for her love for her family. The endless home cooked meals and family gatherings that kept family close and connected.

Polly is survived by her Husband Richard Hoppman, Son Jon Hoppman (Valerie) and Daughter Rachel Martinmass (Ryan) and will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She leaves her oldest brother Doug Elsberry, and sisters Barb Rasmuson and Helen Laughridge (Gary).

On the flip side, Polly has been reunited with her mother and father Ted & Myrtle Elsberry, her twin brother Paul Elsberry, and brothers John Elsberry, and Roger Elsberry, and many other loved ones and one can only imagine the celebration in heaven when Polly embraced her first born son Wade Hoppman who left to be with Jesus in 1988.

The music plays loud in heaven today.

So, amidst our sadness and worldly understanding, we will lay Pauline Ann Hoppman to rest on October 28th, 2022 at 1:00pm next to Wade at Belcrest Memorial Park I Salem, Oregon where there will be a short graveside service. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to Serenity Hospice of Salem, Oregon. They are truly angels among us.
