Norma W. Bishop was born on November 22, 1924 to parents Albert and Minnie Meglitsch in Lavoye, Wyoming. She went to meet Jesus, her Savior, on Friday, December 18, 2020 in Salem. The Lord gave her 96 years here on Earth.
Her family moved to Oregon, when she was seven. After graduating from Mill City High School, she moved to Salem and worked at a local dry cleaner's. She married her husband, Calvin Bishop, after WWII on February 4, 1947, in Salem, Oregon. She worked various jobs throughout her lifetime to help raise four kids with her husband. Calvin preceded her in death on May 27, 1998. Her family was the highlight of her life and she always wanted all her kids and grandkids to be happy and healthy.
Norma's hobbies included gardening and being a mother and grandmother. She gave her time generously at her church, Assemblies of God on Lancaster, with her sister, Blanche. They were on the prayer team together, and would pray for anyone in need in their families' lives or the church's families' lives. She and Blanche helped serve food and decorated for all kinds of events that happened at the church, until she was unable to continue, due to her declining health.
She is survived by her children, James Bishop, Carol Parson, and William Bishop; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her daughter Catherine Clancy; sisters, Helen Hendren, and Blanche Miller; and brother, William Meglitsch.
Norma is in the care of Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hed-fh.com for the Bishop family.
