John Charles Westrick

John C. Westrick, 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather; passed away on October 4, 2024, at Salem Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Johnnie was born on October 20, 1943, in Vancouver, Washington to parents Virgil and Esther (Pierce)Westrick and grew up in Yakima, Washington. Johnnie proudly served the U.S. Army for 12 years including three tours in Vietnam.

He married his wife Mary Ellen (Davis)Westrick on January 31,1970 in Salem. After his military discharge in 1973, John and Mary settled in Salem, Oregon. He became a proud father to his two sons Mike and Rick. Johnnie loved to spend his time camping, fishing, and watching car races.

Johnnie loved his grandchildren John Ross, Branden, Caleb, Ashley, Mason, Fletcher, Riley, Wesley, and Logan Westrick, as well as his great-granddaughters Zaia and Aubrey Westrick. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Barbara Dubuque and Mary Bruce, and 3 nephews. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his sons and their wives, Mike and Kim, Rick and Melissa, all of Salem.

A viewing for John will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 2 PM at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services, 605 Commercial St. SE Salem, OR. Following the viewing there will be a Graveside Service with military honors at 2:30 PM at Belcrest Memorial Gardens, 1295 Browning Ave. S Salem, OR. Reception to follow for family and friends to share food, laughter, tears, and stories about this one-of-a-kind man who we loved deeply.
