The Lord asked for one of his Angels to return home. Janet Lou Davis (nee Christensen) beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 8, 2023 surrounded by family. She is survived by sons Mark and his wife Laurie, Gregory, Paul, Todd and his wife Linda, Lynn and his wife Jennifer, Scot and his wife Ann, and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Lee Albert Davis and Sister Dorothy Ann Christensen. The Lord first delivered her to us on February 9th,1933 in Aberdeen, Washington. She attended J.M. Weatherwax High School and graduated with the class of 1951. After high school Janet attended Grays Harbor College and the University of Washington. It was in Aberdeen where she met her husband Lee. Janet quickly took on the role of supportive wife and mother with a flourishing family of six boys. Her adventures took her all over the pacific northwest including stops in Portland, Eugene, North Bend, Lake Oswego, and Renton, WA before finally settling in Salem in 1970. However, this did not stop Janet from pursuing her own passions and hobbies. After many years of juggling the multiple tasks of motherhood, Janet returned to school to complete her education at Western Oregon University. After graduating and decades of navigating the hijinks of six sons, Janet was perfectly prepared for a career with the Department of Corrections, as well as many other endeavors. When her children were grown and her role as mother began to slow down, Janet and her husband enjoyed splitting their time between Salem and Palm Desert, CA. One of her chief passions throughout her adult life was playing tennis with, her husband, and her ever expanding circle of friends. You could usually find Janet gracing a tennis court either at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club or Deep Canyon Tennis Center in Palm Desert. Included in Janet's tennis accomplishments was the 1988 Senior Women’s USTA National Team Championships. Janet remained an athlete, a volunteer, but most of all, a friend to all those who had the privilege to know her.
