Our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, Dennis Bixler, passed away on October 11, 2024. He was at home, surrounded by family and friends, and knew he was loved. He is now in the loving embrace of Jesus with his health fully restored. He is survived by his wife, Lovena, of 60 years, as well as 3 children (Delena, Denise & Brad), 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren (the youngest being just 1 week old, whom he was able to hold 2 days prior to his passing). He also leaves behind his younger brother, Jim, and was preceded in death by their parents, Lawrence and Marjorie, and older brother, Larry.
Dennis spent over 60 years in the ministry, working in several states, including North Carolina, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and California. His legacy and passion were Christian education, from elementary-age children to senior citizens. He pastored people with care, accepting each person where they were in their journey and helping them grow in their faith. His impact was far-reaching in his ministries, whether at a church, a summer camp, a college dorm, or a retirement home.
In addition to his lifelong commitment to helping others, Dennis loved entertaining people with his ventriloquism, particularly at church camps, church youth programs, and senior citizen groups. In his retirement years, he enjoyed volunteering his services to the residents at Turner Retirement Home. He also enjoyed family gatherings, some traveling, and cruises.
We'll truly miss his wonderful sense of humor, filled with quick wit and those beloved facial expressions that always brought smiles. And let's not forget how he passionately included each of us in his heartfelt prayers every day in his prayer journal.
Our deepest appreciation for all of the prayers, support, and the outpouring of love!
