Debra Ann Miller

She was born on January 24, 1958 in Denver, Colorado to Robert & Rose Haviland. She was the oldest of five children. In 1964 they moved to Oregon living in Milwalkie, Colton, Molalla, Woodburn, Silverton, and Shaw before coming to Salem. She went to school in Woodburn, Colton, and Silverton, graduating from Cascade High school in 1977. She then attended Chemeketa community college and graduated with a degree in Secretarial Studies. She married Ken on September 10th, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Shaw. Together for 40 years they did a lot; traveled a lot, helped a lot and lived a very full life. She stayed busy with her activities including crocheting over 100 blankets and scarves for the veterans and their families. Debra took an enormous amount of pride in doing this. All in all, despite having an eyesight issue, she made sure to help out whenever and wherever she could. To an extremely great many people she was special. Her interests were traveling, hiking, bowling (winning numerous awards), occasional gambling, volunteering, family as much as she could, getting involved wherever she went, lots of sports inside and out, and frequently adventuring the coast and mountains. Debra will be sorely missed.

She was survived by her husband Ken; brothers Randy of Hillsboro and Darrell & Scott of Salem; Father and Mother-In-Law Robert and Gisela Haviland of Beaverton; Aunt Carolyn Haviland of Tualatin; Step-sister Sandy Dow of Beaverton, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins in Oregon, California, and Colorado.

Services will be held at Virgil T Golden funeral home on November 11, 2023 at 11AM, with a burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shaw. Donations can be made to Vietnam Verterans of America, Chapter 392 at Portland Metro 7600 SE Johnson Creek Blvd, Portland, OR 97206.
