Thelma (Grover) Gibbs, was a very beautiful lady who was dearly loved by her family as a woman of great strength, loyalty, intelligence, and a warm sense of humor. Thelma was born December 15, 1926. Devoted wife for 46 years of the late Henry Gibbs, founder of Gibbs Oil Co. a successful distributor of petroleum products with many service stations throughout New England and upstate New York. She is survived by her children, Diane (Gibbs) Sculley and her husband John Sculley, Stephen “Jake” Gibbs, Richard Gibbs and his wife Jennifer Gibbs. Sister to the late Louise (Grover) Fireman, and Elaine “Laney” (Grover) Yanco. Grandma to David Gibbs, Kimberly (Gibbs) Kirschner and her husband Nick Kirschner, Jessica Gibbs, Haley Gibbs, Elizabeth Gibbs, and Olivia Gibbs, and Laurie Pelletier, a devoted friend who cared for both Thelma and Thelma’s late husband, Henry Gibbs for over 23 years.
A funeral service for Thelma will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 10:00AM at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA. The service will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Thelma will be buried next to her late husband, Henry Gibbs, at Shirat Hayam Cemetery, Temple Beth El, 506 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation via www.parkinson.org.
