Victoria DeGregorio,(nee Scariano) age 91, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on May 22, 2015. Devoted wife of Roland for 63 years, preceding her in death in 2009; very proud mother of seven children: Joseph (Eileen Ortmann Toy), Anita Stansbury-Scales (Steve), Francine (Bill Jennings), Paul (Kerry), Victoria Tina Crouppen (Terry), Roland (Terri), and John; loving daughter of the late Paolo and Giuseppina (Ferrara) Scariano; dearest sister and sister-in-law to now deceased John (Mildred) and Frank (Barbara) Scariano, Concetta (Joseph) Lomuto; Josephine and Sam Signorino, and Sam DeGregorio. The matriarch of a large Italian-American family, she leaves a legacy of 18 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Whether as Mom, Nana, Aunt Vicky, Cousin Vicky or just Vicky, she graced and enriched the lives of many, including the friends she made spending almost her entire lifetime on the Hill. She was known for her kindness, hospitality, and quiet strength. Vicky was a terrific and inventive cook, creating one unforgettable Italian dish after another. She traveled extensively in later years with her husband Roland in the United States and Europe. Vicky loved dancing, whether Jitterbugging with her husband, with friends at Friday night dances, or even just a few days ago with family and friends at St. Ambrose’s La Festa celebration on the Hill. She was the last of her family's generation, and is now in heaven with them, and surely dancing again with her beloved Roland. Special thanks to caregivers Toni Allen, Beverly Jenkins, grandson Roland, and especially to her devoted daughter Francine, whom she loved dearly. Sincere appreciation to the staff of Laclede Groves for their kind and professional care. Visitation at CALCATERRA Funeral Home, 5142 Daggett Ave, St. Louis on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 4-8 p.m. Eulogy at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 5130 Wilson, on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m.; burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
