Susan “Kathy” O’Briant, 64, of St. Ann, MO, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2021 surrounded by the love of friends and family. Kathy was born January 30, 1957 in St. Louis, MO to Muriel and Leon Scarbrough.
Kathy battled metastatic breast cancer for nearly a year before God called her home. She had hundreds of prayer warriors praying for her across the nation, but God needed her more than we did. Wherever Kathy went she was loved - giving gifts and spreading kindness. She had a black belt in shopping and could find anything, no matter how obscure or obsolete. Kathy enjoyed making greeting cards for friends and family, creating that extra special personalized touch. Kathy loved working at BJC for 37 years, where she created a network of friends and colleagues who became a second family. Kathy was known as “The Picture Lady” and always had a camera with her. Not only would she take wonderful pictures, you were guaranteed to receive a flashdrive or CD with all your pictures by the next week. Kathy was a dedicated Cardinals fan and stayed true to the team through good times and bad.
Kathy was preceded in death by her loving husband Michael O’Briant (1999) and father, Leon Scarbrough (2011). Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Muriel Scarbrough; six siblings: Sharon (Mike), Steve (Gina), Trish, Ruth (Bud), David (Jennifer), and Phillip (Sandi); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy leaves behind many friends including her BFF Sheila Boyer, besties since 1999.
