Rose was born in New Hampton, Iowa on January 30, 1931. She was the youngest of four children and first person in her family to be born in a hospital. Rose was a graduate of New Hampton High School and also attended Mount Mercy nursing school.
She lived most of her adult life in West Union where Richard and Rose raised their family and were involved in the community. During their early marriage, the couple lived in Panama while Richard served in the Navy. They resided in other Iowa locations including Iowa City, Delhi and Dubuque and Galena, IL. before moving to the St. Louis area.
Rose enjoyed collecting antiques, playing bridge, and she volunteered at the Antes Center, working with students in that program. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. She was an avid supporter of many sports teams, especially the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, where she and Richard attended many events in person over the years.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard; her parents, George and Mary Murray; as well as her siblings Gert, Don, and Marilu.
She is survived by her five children, Kathleen (McClure), Daniel, Patrick, Timothy (wife Cait), and James (wife Kelly); 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Services are pending at this time. Her final resting place will be with her husband Richard at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
