Robert Gustav Kaestner, Sr.

Robert Gustav Kaestner, Sr., age 92, of Affton, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Robert was born May 3, 1930 to Walter and Edna (nee Gamache) Kaestner whom have preceded him in death along with his wife Marcella (nee Altman) and a brother, Ron Kaestner.

Robert leaves behind his son, Robert “Bob” (Patty Ward) Kaestner, Jr., his grandsons, Joseph (Sydney Howard) Kaestner, Bobby Kaestner, and Kevin Renfrow and one great grandson, Glen Riley Howard. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Marion Ilg and James Kaestner. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge a special friend of the family and a valued caretaker, Angel Wren. The family is very appreciative of care she gave to Robert and the support to the family.

Robert proudly served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He was long time member of the American Legion in St. Louis and the VFW Post #1102. He was a man of giving and would help where needed. He volunteered for many years at the Bethesda Dilworth Nursing home. Robert had many hobbies which included, fishing with his longtime friend, Johnny, shopping for antiques, collecting military memorabilia, guns and knives. Any chance he could he would share that he was a very proud owner of one square foot of Jack Daniels Property and even had the ownership card to prove it.

A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road St. Louis, Missouri 63125. A funeral service will occur at 11:00 AM here at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Robert will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan St. Louis, Missouri 63125 with Full Military Honors.
