Misty Starr (Pennington) Chaney, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the age of 33. She was born on September 30, 1988 in Trenton, IL to Christina L. (Villier) Hill and James M. Pennington, Jr. On October 26, 2017, she married Christopher J. Chaney Sr. in South Bend, IN.
Misty was a beautiful soul who loved her family with all of her heart. She loved to shop and enjoyed interior decorating. She had many tattoos, several of which represented each of her children. Family and friends will remember her for the fact that no matter the location or restaurant, she would always choose chicken fingers for dinner. Most importantly, Misty will forever be remembered as the most wonderful wife, mommy, daughter, daughter-in-law, aunt, cousin, and sister.
Misty is survived by her husband Christopher; their children, Gage, Lylian, Christopher Jr., Tahlia, Jaxon, and Kynzley. Also surviving is her father, James (Margi) Pennington Jr of Imperial MO, mother, Christina Hill of Waterloo, IA, stepmother, Angela Pennington of Belleville, IL, and mother-in-law, Cindy (Bryan) Morris of South Bend, IN. She also leaves behind her sisters, Kylie Pennington of Portland, OR and Savannah Pennington of Arnold, MO, along with brothers, Cody Thompson of Belleville, IL, James (Aleasha) Pennington III of Springfield, MO, Mason Megl of Barnhart, MO, and Isaias Hill of Waterloo, IA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Samantha Dawn Pennington, and many family members.
Funeral services will be held in South Bend, IN at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46614. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial with graveside service will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held in Missouri on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4-7pm, with services starting at 7pm, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125.
Memorial contributions in Misty’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to the family through the Palmer Funeral Home website located on Misty’s obituary page.
