Larry was the beloved brother of Jill J. Meyers; loving nephew of Louise (the late Thomas) Tomasek, Norman (the late JoAnn) Klages, and Jeanette (the late Jim) Kille; a dear cousin, best friend to Vern Roach and Harold Smithee, and a friend to many in his lifetime. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Anita E. (nee Klages) Meyers.
Since high school up until the age of 62, Larry worked for the Department of Defense, retiring as a systems analyst. Larry was a Chevalier in the Order of DeMolay. He was a member of the Freedom Masonic Temple. Larry was an avid model train enthusiast. He poured and glazed ceramics, and won many competitions for his ceramics and porcelains, and was trusted as a judge for many competitions. He and his sister loved going to the Fabulous Fox Theatre to see all the shows. He was a collector of Disney, coins, and Mill Creek statuary. Grundy Center, Iowa, 4-H, designing floats, and the Schmidt and Grenier families received his love for many years.
Larry loved playing bingo, was funny, fun to be with, kind-hearted, multitalented, and generous. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will take place on Wednesday, July 13 from 10am until noon at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road 63125. The Funeral Service will begin at noon, with interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry's memory to any charity of one's choice or any animal sanctuary would be greatly appreciated by his family.
The family wishes to thank Pastor Derek Paetow of Gethsemane Lutheran Church on Lemay Ferry Road for presiding over the services and providing comfort to the family in their time of sorrow.
