I'm so sorry to hear about Mrs. Henkel, who was one of my favorite teachers EVER, passed.  She was a wonderful person who helped to shape me into the person that I became.

I first met Judy in 1996 at Pacific Telesis, San Ramon, Ca.  Our paths crossed over the years at what is now AT&T.   Smart, intelligent, giving, a teacher, and had a contagious laugh. I never leaned so much from anybody over a 16 year span at the company than from Judy.  I have countless memories of her and our business trips, dinners, sharing thoughts, and just being real. Forever in my memories. Miss you my friend. She is a diamond in the sky!    

Bill and Amanda -- We are so sorry for your loss.  Judy was a wonderful person and someone with whom we shared many hours of choral singing together with the Metro Singers.  She will surely be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her.   Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.



Judy will continue to live on through all those she touched.  I had the priviledge to work with her for 5 years during the early part of my career at AT&T.  I'd like to share some excerpts from the letter I gave her on 12/12/12 upon her retirement. 
"I want to personally thank you for your years of service to AT&T.  I feel so blessed to have worked with you especially so early in my career.  You have mentored me in so many ways. You were able to take me under your wings and show me how to fly on my own.  Throughout all the reorganizations, conversions, mergers, employee movements, and tax and audit requests it always seemed bearable with you by my side. 
Over the years I absorbed your rhetoric.  My first thought would be what would Judy do?  Speedy often called me “Judy” as I would uncover issues on Services’ ledger.  I always took it as a compliment.  
You really helped shape me as a professional.  I will always be grateful for the positive impact you have made on me.  I will continue to pay it forward for all those that come after me.
I wish you all the best in your retirement.  Enjoy your family especially those cute grandkids."
Judy, you will be missed dearly but never forgotten. We will always smile at the sound of your name.   May you rest in peace!!

I was on a Friday night bowling league with Judy, Bill & Mandy.  I always loved the nights when my team would bowl the Henkels.  Judy was funny and always had a story to tell that would make you laugh.  It was obvious how close this family was and that she and Bill were the perfect pair.  I only knew her for short time, but right away I got a sense for what a wonderful, caring person Judy was. I am so so sorry to the Henkel family for their loss -- my heart hurts for you all.

I worked with Judy at SBC and can see her smile. She was a great snd smart woman, who l enjoyed in friendship. Rest, Judy 

Judy and I worked together at Southwestern Bell Telephone, SBC and AT&T for nearly three decades. Judy’s wit, sense of humor, and brilliance kept many  a complicated project going smoothly, and on time.  She encouraged me to write, buying four books in which my stories were published, and then housed them on a shelf filled with her former students’ books, such an honor. Judy let me personally scout out Lowes and Home Depot Christmas decorations for her the past several years, requesting I send her photos of the latest glitzy holiday decorations to  help celebrate Jesus’s and her joint birthday.  I will miss our Fitz’s lunches—I raise an ice cream root beer float mug to my dear friend, Judy!

I am so sorry to read this sad news. I worked with Judy and we sang together in the Belltones. She was always laughing!  May she Rest In Peace. 

Mrs. Judith Henkel, was my favorite teacher at Waring Elementary(1970’s). She was the BEST. This is a sad way to remember her but she was one of the most caring, compassionate teacher that I had. Her encouragement kept me going.        I will never forget her.  My condolences to Mr. B. Henkel and daughter, Amanda. Bless you both.

 


Judy was a friend of mine, and one of the finest employees I've ever had an opportunity to work with.  Specifically, Judy was a key part of an extremely important initiative at AT&T in the late 90s.  Her innovation and drive was critical to several elements of this initiative.  In fact, for many years following this, I used Judy as an example of someone who had the ability to make change happen, something that is often difficult but necessary.  I often wished I had the opportunity to work with Judy again. 

Bill and Amanda, you and I have never met.  But Judy often spoke fondly of both of you, and I feel as if I know you.  She was something special, and I extend to both of you and your family my most sincere condolences.
