Preceded in death by his parents, Clyde T. and Sylvia Green Stickels and his sister and brother-in-law, Ellen (Chuck) Campbell. His sister, Peggy (Bob) Irwin resides in St. Louis.
The family traveled from SE MO to the Alton, IL area where he grew up.
Through his marriage to Diane Heller White, there are three sons-Greg of Chicago, IL, Douglas of Alton, IL, and Bradley (Leah) of Fairview, NC.
A second marriage to Dorothy Vannoy produced two sons-Bryant (Melinda) of Wood River, IL and Todd (Linda) of O'Fallon, MO.
Jim married Nancy Nelson, formerly of Salem, MO on New Year's Eve 1987, sitting at a kitchen table in a camper on the St. Louis City Hall parking lot. Friends and family were invited to a church ceremony February 27, 1988, officiated by Pastor Joel Oliver. They remained married until his death. During this union, a chosen son, Mackenzie Slinkard, was raised.
Jim was known as a worker. From the time he was a child, he had a job, sometimes two or three at once.
He worked in the grocery, sales, and formerly the trucking industry in later years, retiring from RLS Global Inc. in Wood River, IL.
He is survived by his six sons, 12 grandchildren-Grady, Laura, Galin, Gabe, Alena, Stephanie, Sarah, Zachery, Seth, Noah, Jacob, and Addilyn, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
His biggest joy was returning to the service of the Lord and loving his family. He loved his church family and gave many hours of service. He was an unusual man with a generous spirit, willing to help anyone he could. He will be missed.
SERVICES: Memorial Service 11am-1pm Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Trinity Assembly of God 4720 Jamieson, St. Louis, MO 63109. Friends may start gathering at 10:00am.
