After graduation from Bunker Hill High School, Edgar enlisted in the Navy in 1975. Edgar was stationed in several ports stateside before retiring in San Diego in 1997. He participated on several excursions around the world and served during Desert Storm. His service included stents aboard the U.S.S. Albany, Alamo, Okinawa, and Carl Vinson.
In 1998 he returned home to the St. Louis area. After a short period working at Walmart, Edgar spent his retirement working part time at the Pinehurst apartment complex where he lived in south St. Louis County. He was a fixture there for 20 years and was liked and loved by many who passed through there.
Edgar was preceded in death by two sons Danny Lee and Jason Michael, his mother Ethel, a sister Penny Jeffries, and a sister-n-law Cheryl. He is survived by his eldest son Edgar Jr., two step sons Christian J. Balboa and Robert G. Santana, his former wife Hada Spickerman of California; his eldest sister Linda Parish, three brothers Ronald, Clifford, and Roger, and his father Clinton.
A graveside service with military honors for Edgar will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd., Jefferson Barracks, MO 63125. For those planning on attending the service please arrive at the cemetery by 12:20 pm and park in the lot behind the cemetery administration building as you come in the gate. At 12:30 those attending will be invited to join the procession to the pavilion where the service will be offered.
