Sue n family, so sorry to hear about the passing of Ken. I just was advised about kens passing. Ken was great to work with over the past many years at continental insurance company. Suz,, sorry this has taken so long.   I was so very sad to hear of Ken's passing.   He was a great friend, roommate and classmate at Westminster.  So many great memories over the years that I cherish to this day.   What great times we had at WC through our college years and beyond.   He will always be "Nort" to me....  I know he is at peace now and will always be watching down on your family.   May he rest in peace...

Sending our deepest condolences to Susie, Kirk, Britain, Ryan, Lisa and Ethan.  Ken lived life to the fullest. He was a wonderful family man, leader, listener, mentor and dear friend. Ken and I worked together for many years while we were at CNA and Encompass Insurance. He was the best leader, mentor, and friend anyone could have.  We helped each other through many corporate initiatives, had fun traveling with Susie to the various recognition trips and agent council meetings.  Ken helped teach me to golf better so I could keep up with the agents at the various golf outings we attended for our Regional meetings. Ken also acted as a career coach and opened many doors during my career.  During our last call in August he talked about focusing on the positive of what can happen. He was so sure he was going to beat the cancer and I believed him. Always the optimistic even when he was sick.  Ken you are deeply missed already.

10/22/23 - My deepest condolences go to the Irvin family. I had the privilege to work with Ken for over 20 years. Ken was the best manager I ever worked for. Ken had the ability to listen to you and make you feel like you were really being heard. He was a wonderful mentor always encouraging you to be the best you could be. I'll always remember fondly our Murfield Golf Tournaments and the good times we had. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

While at the Continental Insurance Home Office in New Jersey in 1994 I received a call from Ken who was leading the claims organization in Columbus Ohio. He offered me a position in the new regional based structure he was developing there. I clearly felt Ken’s honesty, directness, and sincerity as we spoke. His genuine concern for my family came through clearly. Needing an answer quickly, he asked me to let him know my decision the next day. Never having been to Ohio, my wife and I discussed the new job with our children that night. As a family we decided to accept. Several weeks later we moved to Dublin Ohio. 
There began a lifelong relationship with an amazing and caring man. Through trials and triumphs, setbacks and successes, and many lunches at Ray’s Fish Market, we all worked together and with a unity of purpose that would mark Columbus as a highly regarded and successful operation. We got to know Ken and Susie, their sons Ryan and Kirk, and their beloved dog Polo as a beautiful and loving family and great friends. 
Now, as this obituary notes, Ken has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior. He shared these words with me in an email on 9/22/22: “Yep, I get it now, Jesus is in my life, always was, always will be.” 
And Jesus includes these words to us in John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Sue and Family,
I'm so sorry and shocked to hear of Ken's passing!  Though I have not seen or spoken to Ken in probably 35 years, (last time Banana's wedding), his name would often come up when I was with other Westminster buddies.  However, no one of us ever used our "real" names but rather nicknames that somehow were given to us and they stuck!  Ken's college name was Nort.  When he put on a white T-shirt, a plain vest and turned up the front brim of an old "pork pie hat", he looked very similar to Art Norton on the Honey Mooners - therefore Nort!  Ken always played into his character of Nort or Norton and I think he enjoyed it!
I'll say goodbye now to my old college and Sig Ep buddy Ken, or Nort.  I'm sure God will recognize him with either name!

My deepest condolences to the Irvin family. I worked with Ken starting in 1994 when I transferred to Columbus until his retirement.  We shared many personal conversations because my parents also came from SW Pennsylvania and that sparked a connection talking about our heritage. He always spoke with deep love for his family.  His leadership during the CNA years to the Encompass transition spoke volumes of his commitment to the office and our work family.  He was not only a great manager, but also someone I looked up to.  I would not have had the professional life I had  without his guidance  and support for so many years. May his family know he touched so many lives and will be missed.
