February 18, 1928 – May 2, 2023
Vincent Louis Maita was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, successful businessman, and a dedicated supporter of our community.
Vince moved to Sacramento at a young age with hi parents, Louis and Edith Maita and his younger brother Albert. From that point forward, Sacramento was home.
Shortly after graduating from Sacramento High School, Vince proudly served in the US Navy and after being honorably discharged, attended Heald Business College.
Hi start in the car business came with a local Oldsmobile dealer, where he worked his way into sales, and in 1953, earned the title of Vanguard Salesperson for Oldsmobile in the San Francisco Zone.
In 1975, Vince had the opportunity to become sole owner of Sutton Oldsmobile, which became Maita Oldsmobile on Fulton Avenue. Under his leadership, Maita Oldsmobile turned into one of the leading Oldsmobile dealerships in California.
Things really took off in 1986 when he and his son Steve purchased a Hyundai franchise, and shortly after that they acquired Toyota of Sacramento, which became Maita Toyota. Chevrolet, Subaru, Kia, Suzuki, Ford, Mazda, Nissan and Honda dealerships would follow, making the Maita’s one of Sacramento’s largest automotive groups.
But the Maita standards of honesty, integrity and unmatched customer service never changed.
In addition to being a successful businessman, Vince was also a leader in the business community. As a member of the Fulton Avenue Association and the Auburn Boulevard Redevelopment Board, Vince was a driving force in the enhancement and renovation of Auburn Boulevard when the area was in serious need of improvement.
