Preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Katherine Ann Hansen, his brothers Gregory Hansen, Roger Hansen and Kenneth Hansen, father Alvey Hansen, and mother Louise Hansen. Robert L. Hansen is survived by his children: daughter Jan Scully Royse (Brian), son Bob Hansen (Gail), daughter CathyAnn Simon (Brad); grandchildren Blaine Scully, Tara Burdine, and Sean Scully; Rob, Michelle, Tyler and Zach Hansen; Jessica, Derek, Spencer and Madeline Simon; great grandchildren Meadow and Oakley Burdine, Sadie Scully, Rio Cardenas, Sterling and Remington Simon; and Josephine Maciel. Two more great grandchildren are due in September and October.
Bob was born in Sacramento on June 30, 1929, to parents Louise and Alvey Hansen. The second of four sons, Bob enjoyed his childhood taking care of the livestock before and after school on his parents small ranch. An excellent athlete, Bob’s skills at basketball and football were greatly valued by Grant Union High School, from which he graduated in 1947. After high school, Bob earned his CPA license and joined the Air Force. While in the Air Force, Bob returned on leave from his station in Bermuda, to marry his high school sweetheart, Katherine Ann George on July 10, 1949.
After he completed his tour of duty, with an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bob worked his way up in the State of California Department of Corporations to become the department’s Chief Administration Officer. In December 1991 after over 36 years of service. Bob retired from the state service receiving commendations and resolutions from then Governor Pete Wilson and the State Legislature in recognition of his many accomplishments in State service.
Both Bob along with Kathy led a very active and productive life centered on family, friends, neighbors, their church, community, Bible Study groups, golfing, traveling, fishing and playing bridge. Bob and Kathy became avid bridge players with Life Master Bridge accomplishments.
Bob and Kathy were long time parishioners at St.Ignatius Catholic Church. He handled the financial books at St.Ignatius in its early years, and the financial books for Jesuit High School during the early years of funding development.
A visitation and rosary for Bob is planned for Tuesday, June 7, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm., at the Lombard Funeral Home, 1550 Fulton Ave., Sacramento, CA 95825. All are invited to attend. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, 11:00 am, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA 95825. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm, at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, CA 95621
