Dick was born in Omaha, Nebraska to William P. Reisinger and Ellen Margaret Langdon. Dick attended St. Cecilia’s grade school and Cathedral High School (Cardinals). Thus his love of the St. Louis Cardinals. Being from Nebraska Dick was a lifelong Big Red fan. His biggest treats were attending games in Lincoln Nebraska with his sons and grandsons. Special treat was watching Nebraska beat Miami in 1994 in the Orange Bowl.
He married Dorothy (Doddie) Pingree in 1956. She was the heart and soul of the family. Gma insisted that all the boys get a good education. An excellent cook and an avid sports fan attending many of the boys’ games and later the grandkids games. Dick and Doddie were married for over 65 years. They were blessed with four sons, Richard (Carol), Kurt (Mary), Russell (Lynne) and Robert. Six grandchildren, Andrew (Carrie), Keri (Kris), Jack, Alex (Marc) and Patrick and Chas and four great grandchildren, Sydney, Wyatt, Dean and Clara. Also survived by one sibling, William Reisinger.
Dick worked for Sacramento County as a construction inspector for 36 years, retiring in 1995 as a Supervising Construction Inspector. During the seventies, Dick was instrumental in the construction of a new baseball complex for the College Glen Little League. After retirement, Dick volunteered at Safetyville USA and Sacramento Sheriff’s service center on Watt Ave.
In the mid 90’s Dick and Doddie traveled to Europe visiting England, France and Italy. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. One they would never forget.
Dick joined the Golden Senior Softball Club in 1986 and was a lifetime member. He played into his 80’s. Golf was his favorite pastime. He recorded three holes in one, two on the same hole at Antelope Greens Golf Course. He misses his longtime golf partner Bob Wilson, RIP Bob.
Dick was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him. Witty and funny he would always make you laugh.
