Mary is survived by her children Christopher James Curtis (Linda) and Francine Curtis-Smith (Emmett); her grandchildren Alexander Smith (Megan), Spencer Smith, and Grace Curtis and step grandchildren Jessica Ransford, Tyler Ransford, and Sam Ransford; her siblings Sophie Theodore, Kiki Econome, Gus Paras (Carol) and Antonia Chapralis (Tim), and her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Mary was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Frank R. Curtis and her siblings Emmanuel Paras, George Paras, and Helen Piperis.
Mary was a devoted elementary school teacher who spent 40 years in the profession, teaching both abroad and in Sacramento. Mary had teaching in her DNA and always found time to share and explore new ideas and topics with the children in her life, even well after her retirement.
The Trisagion service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 616 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, CA, on Tuesday, July 23rd, 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Church on Wednesday, July 24th, 10:00 a.m., with the internment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, 4300 Folsom Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary’s memory to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the American Cancer Society or the Sacramento SPCA.
