Born November 30, 1921 in Sacramento to John Chase Morley SR of Iowa and Ruth White Morley of Yuba City. He was raised in Sacramento and Santa Paula, attended California Junior High & graduated from CK McClatchy High School. He studied at Sacramento Junior College before his service in the Army and returned on the GI Bill following his service in World War II. After his marriage he moved to Yuba City to raise his family before returning to Sacramento in 2005 to be near his children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 56 years, Lila R. Varrasso and son, John Chase Morley III and is survived by his sister, Winifred Floyd of Dixon and sister-in-law, Dorothy Harden of San Luis Obispo, his children Christine Lincoln (Rick) of Rancho Cordova, Marlyn Morley of Elk Grove, Melissa Morley Powell of Sacramento, Philip Morley of San Jose, and Kevin Morley (Debra) of Elk Grove. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, R.Scott Lincoln, Kristin Nevels (Dan), Tommy Powell (Jill), Jennifer Powell and David Morley, as well as great grandchildren: Brandon, Brooke, Erika, Daniel, Ashley, Reece, and Brooklyn. Jack served in combat as a lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne in WW II from N. Africa, Sicily, Italy through the south of France, north to the Battle of the Bulge and into Berlin. In addition, he was recalled to combat in Korea in 1951 as part of the 101st Airborne Division where he served for a year. Lila R. Varrasso danced into his life during a Sacramento College, GEK fraternity Ski Trip to Camp Sacramento in 1947. They married in July of that year and they graced the dance floor until her death in 2003.They were poetry in motion and the love of each others lives. They lit up any room they entered and never knew a stranger. Their warmth as a couple enabled them to make others a part of whatever conversation or activity in which they were engaged. Jack was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather+, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He prized integrity above all, had a great sense of humor that made his blue eyes twinkle, loved to tease and laugh, and was hardworking man who instilled the importance of these qualities in his children through his example. His family was the most cherished center of his life. Jack support his family as a farmer while working for Nabisco uponhis return from service, and then transited to financial planning as a stock broker for Birr Wilson in 1978 until his retirement in 1998. His community activities in Yuba City included the Tierra Buena Farm Bureau, St. Isidore's Fathers Club, Little League Coach to his sons, a member of the Elks Club, Rotary, the Amici Italiani Group and the annual Prune Festival. A memorial service will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Home 5401 Folsom Blvd on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10am. Refreshments will follow. Graveside services will be held at the Yuba City Cemetery on Bridge Street the following week. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rideout Memorial Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
