We are saddened to announce the passing of Helen Margaret Gaede, a native of Victoria, British Columbia and later a proud U.S. citizen. She passed Thursday July 16, 2015 at the age of 88. Everyone who met Helen remembers her as a social butterfly who loved helping people and animals. As a young woman the bubbly Royal Jubilee Hospital graduate married a dashing Navy Sea Bee from Kansas and they moved to California to raise their family. Helen frequently engaged in her community through volunteerism at McClatchy High, the Sacramento Food Closet and giving graciously to groups like Performing Animal Welfare Society. She was also a devoted Christian, attending Fremont Presbyterian as long as her mobility allowed. An avid reader until very late in life, Helen had a soft spot for curling up with an Agatha Christie novel, chocolate, and a cat - in other words, enjoying the good things in life. Helen is predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Delton and daughter Elizabeth. She is survived by children Alan, his wife Kavitaa, daughter Barbara, her husband Jeffery, and granddaughters Katherine and Emily.
Those wishing to join the family in remembrances are invited to attend her viewing at Nauman's on July 27th 4-8 PM. Graveside services will be held on the 28th at 10 AM beginning at Nauman's with reception to follow. To honor her memory and in lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Sacramento SPCA (916) 383-7387 or the local Wildlife Care Association (916) 965-9453.
