Helen Ann (Hill) Chandler was born on January 25, 1932, in Cairo, Illinois to Roy and Elizabeth Hill. She passed away on February 22, 2018, at the age of 86. She was a very devoted mother of four, grand-mother of 10, and later a great-grandmother of 22. Helen will be missed by many family members and friends.
At twenty-one years of age, Helen and her husband S. A. left their hometown, families and friends and moved to Sacramento with a baby girl (Carolyn), and another on the way (Steve). A few years later their family grew to include Tim and MaryAnne.
Helen was an original founding member of Saint Lawrence Church and was very active throughout the years. She worked for the Rio Linda School District as a Bus Driver for almost 20 years. Helen also devoted her time to help those in need at food closets over the years.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life for over 65 years, Solomon Alexander (S.A.), along with her parents and siblings Margaret, Jim, Bob, Tom and Jack, son Timothy Chandler, granddaughter Courtney Stein, son-in-law Jimmy Stein, grandson-in-law Kevin Banford along with several nieces and nephews. Helen is survived by children Carolyn (Patrick) McGuire, Stephen (Nancy) Chandler, Terrie Chandler, and MaryAnne Stein and sister-in-law Becky Baker.
A Christian mass will be said at 11:00 am on Friday, March 9th at St. Lawrence Church in North Highlands with an Interment (Calvary Cemetery) and reception to follow.
