George Ito passed away 9/1/16 at home, in Sacramento, CA, with his family by his side. George was born on 9/16/34 in Sacramento, CA where he lived his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents Kichiuyemon and Kimiyo Ito, siblings Bill, Hiro, Frank, and Reiko. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ann, children Tom (Kathy), Michael (Jodi), Mark (Rissa), and Brian, grandchildren Jacob, Jaden, Isaiah, Akemi, Elsie, Trinity, and Mason, brother Ray (Pearl) and numerous nieces and nephews. He had an especially strong bond with his grandchildren who adored him. George worked 42 years at the California Department of Justice where he ultimately became manager of the Automated Latent Print Department. During his tenure, he was a pioneer of automating the state's fingerprint database. George loved spending time with his immediate and large extended family, gardening, and especially baseball. He competed at San Juan High School and continued playing beyond high school in the Nisei Japanese Baseball League. He passed along his passion to his four sons, and stayed involved by coaching, scorekeeping, field prepping, and inconspicuous spectating. Many considered him an honorary Team Dad. George will be missed by all who had the privilege to be a part of his life. Friends and family are invited to attend his memorial service on 9/12/16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 10497 Coloma Rd., Rancho Cordova, CA. There will be a Rosary held at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento on Friday, 9/9/16 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the Ito family invites donations to support a George Ito Scholarship fund.
