Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Elmer (Pete) Petersen on October 1, 2023. She is survived by her children David Petersen (Lorenna), Michele Wagstrom (Craig), Nanette Cordell, and Cheryl Moore (Scott), grandchildren Trystan, Russell (Simone), Alex and Lori, great grandchildren and many extended relatives.
Born in Sacramento, CA in 1936 to parents Stephen and Elsie DeValentine, she spent her early years on the family ranch in Rio Oso. She lost her own parents at an early age and was raised by her sister Marie (Nick) Setich. She graduated from Sacramento High School in 1954 and went on to pursue a career as a secretary.
Elsie married the love of her life, Elmer (Pete), on June 11, 1955. They spent their younger years raising four children, and establishing themselves in their neighborhood, church, and children's school (All Hallows). Elsie's life revolved around her children's activities serving as both Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother and President of the All Hallows Mother's Club for many years. After Elmer retired, they traveled extensively sharing both their love for cruising and traveling in their 5th wheel.
She was an avid reader, and was extremely creative whether cooking, sewing, macrame, or embroidery, she always had a project going and loved sharing her talent with others. She loved all genres of music and spent many hours observing, feeding and documenting birds at home and on her travels.
She is greatly missed, and we all have wonderful memories that we will hold in our hearts forever.
