Dwana Lastar Edwards-Pickney

Dwana Lastar Edwards-Pickney, age 47, was born on May 13, 1975 in Oakland, CA, then moved to Sacramento in 1989. She obtained her GED in Sacramento, CA. She went on to further her career by attending a community college here in Sacramento and received her medical assistant certificate. She worked and served her community by working for 16 years at Care Community Health as a medical assistant. She attended Boss Church in South Sacramento. She was a God fearing woman who loved her children and family.

Dwana was a very private and unique person. She fought a long battle of cancer. She was tired. Dwana departed this life and her heavenly journey began May 24th, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her mother Lana Gene Nelson, her sister Sharnell La’shawn Boatwright, her grandma Pearl Parker, grandfather Wille Parker. She leaves to cherish her memories her father Dwight Edwards, her husband Kerry Pickney, her two sons Marcus Smith and Jayden Wilson, her granddaughter Ny’Leyah Smith, three brothers Dawon Edwards, James Nelson, and Jahari Nelson, one sister Diana Edwards, her nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins, and a host of very loving friends. Dwana will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
