April 12, 1936 - May 13, 2023 Dorothy Gorman-Mullins, IHM entered the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1954 (Sister Mary Rose Immaculate) and was a member of the Immaculate Heart Community since 1970. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she grew up in Southern California. She served at Queen of the Valley Hospital, West Covina, then went to Salinas, where she was a public health nurse for thirty years with the Santa Clara County Health Department, retiring in 1995.
Working for the County enabled Dorothy to serve the poor, the immigrants, the undocumented, and the poor. She taught health education in schools, in homes, and at Gavilan College. Her caring and compassion for all in her ministry endeared her to them, and she felt blessed by them. She also gave time to helping others in her parish community.
With appreciation for her life of service to others, members of the Immaculate Heart Community remember Dorothy with gratitude for her generosity and commitment to healing and helping those in need.
Dorothy is survived by her siblings, Peggy Gorman Chase, Bill Gorman, Maggie Gorman, Susie Gorman, and Kathleen Gorman.
The memorial service will be held at St. John of God Center on Saturday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m.
